What is Manual Osteopathy?
Manual Osteopaths gives treatment on muscle and joint pain anywhere in the body using variety of specific hands-on techniques. The techniques include but not limited to soft tissue therapy, mobilization, cranial and visceral osteopathy, trigger-point therapy, exercises, traction as well as the use of ultrasound where appropriate.
Manual Osteopaths use a holistic approach, focusing on the principle that a person’s well-being depends on everything in the body as one unit in which the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues working smoothly together. Therefore, they work on the body as one unit and not just the painful area. Having said that, they find the cause and not just the symptoms which results in the overall goal to restore the optimal functioning of the body and to relieve the pain. As an example, if a particular joint is restricted or a particular muscle is tight, a Manual Osteopath works to re-establish the full function to muscle and joints.
